Bandits Steal Win
The Peter Northstars (0-3-1) fell behind early and couldn’t recover in time against the Bandits (2-1-1).
The Bandits jumped out to a quick start, scoring a pair in the first two and a half minutes of the game. They applied constant pressure on ‘Stars goaltender Nick Konkin who stepped in at the last minute for Sills. The ‘Stars clawed their way back into the game after McKenzie intercepted a puck headed out of the Bandits zone and passed to the front of the net where both Morris and Klein stood uncovered. Klein roofed a backhander over Bandit goaltender Horvath to cut their lead to one. The two teams played a tight second period with neither one able to find the back of the net, largely due to the acrobatics of Konkin. A comeback was not in the cards for the ‘Stars this night, as the Bandits finished the scoring early in the third when Groudins slipped a puck past Konkin for an unassisted goal.

‘Stars lose despite massive Swartz
Mike Swartz made a triumphant season debut, but the Peter Northstars were unable to overcome an early deficit and dropped a 6-3 decision to the Ice Cats.
Heading into the Tuesday night skirmish, the ‘Stars were buoyed by the return of forward Mike Swartz. Swartz, who had trained for the upcoming season by rock climbing was raring to go, but so were the Ice Cats who came out of the gate flying. Before PNS knew what hit them, the Cats were up 3-0 on goals by Cushing (:32), Chan(:41) and Evelyn (1:25). Swartz answered back for the ‘Stars 14 seconds later to make the score 3-1 and the game looked to be a classic shootout. The breakneck scoring pace slowed, but the Ice Cats were still able to extend their lead to three goals with a powerplay marker before the end of the first. The teams traded goals in the second, with Northstar Tom Medcof banging home a shot from Jeff Morris, and Ice Cat Jamie Khan answering back. Seb DeKloet made the score 5-3 early in the third, scoring his first goal of the season from Jeffrey and Swartz, but the ‘Stars were unable to close the gap any further and the Cats scored an insurance goal late in the third period.

Wolverines Claw Out Victory
The game was a tight checking affair, but the Wolverines held a decided advantage throughout the first half of the game. ‘Stars goaltender Craig Sills had to make stop after stop to keep the game scoreless after one period. It looked like the game might remain scoreless in the second, but Wolverine forward Jeff Hayes slipped a puck past Sills with thirty-four seconds left in the second period to send the Wolverines into the third with a 1-0 lead.
The ‘Stars pressed hard during the third period in an attempt to draw even and had a golden opportunity to score when Wolverine Steve Smith was called for a slashing double-minor with 9:54 remaining in the game. However, the ‘Stars couldn’t get their powerplay in gear and the penalty expired harmlessly. With netminder Sills pulled for a sixth attacker in the final minute, the ‘Stars had one last chance to tie the game, but a point shot from ‘Stars defender David Roe was deflected out of play by a Wolverine defender and the ‘Stars lost the ensuing draw, leading to an empty net goal by Todd Oldham with 27 seconds left to play. Oleh Hankivski of the Wolverines, apparently the only person still motivated to play with the game all but over, scored a meaningless goal on a breakaway with three seconds to play, making the final score 3-0.

‘Stars Go Down Enthusiastically
Peter Northstars management were excited to hear that their petitions to have the team moved in a divisional realignment were granted. The ‘Stars were off to a rough start in the Bower division with a 0-5-1 record. The realignment will see the ‘Stars returned to the Day division, where the ‘Stars were division champions, beginning next week. Their first opponents will be the Thundercats, who are 5-2-0 in the Day so far.

Bone’s Too Hard to Handle
Breakaways Undo ‘Stars in Loss
In another tight game, the Peter Northstars (0-2-1) dropped a 4-2 decision to Bone’s Brigade (1-1-1).
More than a year after their last match-up, the ‘Stars and Bone’s Brigade were ready to tangle again on Tuesday night. Coming off a low scoring draw against the Dragons, the ‘Stars hoped to kick start their offence after averaging only two goals per game in their opening contests. The evening got off to a promising start when Medcof corralled a loose puck in the neutral zone, split the Brigade defence and fired a wrist shot past goaltender Nawaz Meghji to give PNS the lead. The advantage was only temporary however, as Jesse Shifrin evened the score for Bone’s Brigade on the next shift. That was all the scoring for the first period and the teams were even heading into the second.
Medcof tallied again for the ‘Stars to open the second. After a prolonged period of pressure in the Brigade zone, Medcof fired an unexpected shot at Meghji which slipped into the net to put the ‘Stars back out in front. However, the Brigade would, once again, answer back before the end of the period. Scott Palmateer scored with only eight seconds left to keep the score knotted heading into the third. The Brigade jumped out to a quick lead in the final period, with Sean Tellis scoring on a breakaway early on, and Jonathan Sinden putting the game away with another breakaway goal to complete the scoring.
Next week the ‘Stars face the Bandits (1-1-1). They feature a formidable, balanced attack, with 14 of their skaters having already recorded a point and a stingy defence with a team GAA of 2.67. The ‘Stars will have to tighten up on defence and get their offence in gear to keep up with the blistering Bandit attack.

Double Dragons
Outnumbered Stars Hold Dragons to 2-2 Draw
As predicted, the Peter Northstars (0-1-1) entered the contest dramatically short on skaters, with only one substitute on the bench at the start of the game. Facing twelve Dragons (0-1-1) skaters to their six, the team was thrilled to see de Kloet emerge from the dressing room shortly after the puck drop. Seeing the discrepancy in manpower, the Dragons sought to take advantage. They kicked off the game at a furious pace, putting pressure on the Northstar defenders with a vigorous forecheck and flying through the neutral zone on offensive forays. However, it was the ‘Stars that struck first on a ‘hustle’ play of their own. After a PNS scoring opportunity, De Kloet managed to thwart a Dragon breakout just inside their blue line. Konkin grabbed the puck and slid it to Klein at the boards. Stationed at the side of the net, Medcof managed to tip Klein’s shot between the legs of Dragons goaltender Ted Balant to put the ‘Stars ahead 1-0. The Dragons tied the score when Paul Balant scored his third of the season early in the second period.
Midway through the second period the ‘Stars pulled ahead again. With Morris in the box for holding, Medcof forced Dragon defender Zwolinski to retreat through the neutral zone. As Zwolinski tried to spin away, Medcof poked the puck away and into the Dragon end. Recognizing the shorthanded opportunity, an alert Konkin rushed into the Dragon’s zone completely uncovered. Medcof fired a pass to the waiting Konkin and he hammered home the ‘Stars’ second goal of the game. The Dragons came back to tie the score before the end of the period on a scramble in the crease. The ‘Stars paid for their inability to clear the zone as Dragon defender Paul Barker knocked down a clearing attempt at the line and fired the puck towards the net. The puck took an unexpected hop and, although Northstar goaltender Craig Sills got most of the puck, it bounced off his shoulder and lay in the crease just beyond the goal line. An opportunistic Andrew Penner swept the puck home to even the score at 2.
Despite the lack of skaters, the Peter Northstars still managed to put quite a bit of pressure on the Dragons in the third period. With Jeffrey mournfully looking on from the hallway to the Northstar dressing room, the constant pressure on the Dragons forced them to take three consecutive penalties over the final 8 minutes of the game. Despite a full six minutes with the man advantage, the ‘Stars were unable to finish off the Dragons and the game finished in a draw.
Next week, the Northstars renew their rivalry with Bone’s Brigade(0-1-1). The Brigade are also coming off a tie in their last game; a 1-1 draw against the Ice Cats. Parity in the division seems to be the order of the day, with the other game in the Clancy, between the Bandits and Wolverines, ending in a 3-3 draw as well. All this is a good sign for TNHL fans who can expect another great match up Tuesday night at 10:20.

Wolverines Survive Close Shave in Harried End ‘Stars Unable To Draw Even In Frantic Final Seconds
In a tight contest Tuesday night, the Peter Northstars (0-1-0) fell 3-2 to the Wolverines (1-0-0).
With the Summer 2009 line-up anxious to take to the ice, the ‘Stars made their first foray into the Clancy division against preseason favourites, the Wolverines. However, the ‘Stars were in for a rough start. Rich “The Animal” Salmon drew a penalty for body contact 1:06 into the game and the Wolverines quickly capitalized on their power play opportunity, putting the ‘Stars down a goal before the entire team made it to the bench. The Wolverines doubled their lead late in the first period with a shorthanded goal after forward Sam Saibil blocked a point shot from PNS defenseman Jeff Morris and beat Sills on a clean breakaway.
The ‘Stars cut into the two-goal lead early in the second period as Chris McKenzie rushed through the Wolverine defence and beat goaltender Dave Osti. Minutes later the Northstars knotted the score at two. Shortly after a Wolverines penalty expired, Salmon fired a wrist shot from the point which found its way through a crowd in front of the net and eluded Osti. The ‘Stars began to run into penalty trouble early in the third period. Six seconds after Steve Klein was put in the box for brutalizing a Wolverine on the backcheck, Rob Jeffrey was called for holding giving the Wolverines almost a full two minutes of 5-on-3 hockey. The crowd in the PNS penalty box continued to grow when recent signing Sebastian de Kloet was called for high sticking. Although the ‘Stars were able to kill off the 5 on 3, Saibil was able to score his second of the game moments after the Klein and Jeffrey penalties expired to give the Wolverines a one goal lead heading into the end game.
Despite a significant amount of pressure in the third period, the ‘Stars were unable to mount any serious scoring chances until late in the period. With Czigli in the box for the final 24 seconds of the game, Sills on the bench, and a face-off in the Wolverines zone, the ‘Stars were able to make a final rush at the net. Unfortunately, a flurry of ‘Stars attackers were unable to slide a bouncing puck past Osti and the Wolverines managed to flip the puck into the neutral zone, effectively ending the game.
While the loss was disappointing for the ‘Stars, the team was heartened by the strong performance against a team that many pundits have picked to take the division this season. If this game was any indication of things to come, the rest of the season will surely be a classic in the annals of the True North Hockey League.
The ‘Stars next face the Dragons, a tight checking team who found themselves on the wrong end of an uncharacteristic shootout in their last game, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Ice Cats. Fans can still purchase tickets for the upcoming Tuesday 6:00 start, with several prime seats on the Peter Northstars’ bench likely to be available.
Recent News: Season Preview - 5/2/09 Promotional Material Stars Promoted to Clancy Division after Championship Season
After a well deserved off-season, the Peter Northstars are ready to repeat as division champions in the Summer 2009 season.
The ‘Stars ended the Winter ’08-’09 season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Wanderers in the Day division championship game. With the victory, PNS secured their first championship title in team history and were
promoted to the Clancy division. Joining the ‘Stars in the division are some familiar faces and some unknown adversaries.
The Northstars last encountered Bone’s Brigade at the beginning of the ill-fated Summer ’08 season. They opened the season with a 4-1 victory against Bone’s Brigade on the strength of a Medcof hat trick. Bone’s Brigade spent winter '08-'09 in the Clancy division, finishing in 5th with an 8-10-4 record. Moving back to Tuesdays after playing on Sundays over the winter, the Wolverines also encountered the ‘Stars once in summer '08 and were felled 1-0 by a Rob Duncan solo effort. Both the Brigade and the Wolverines were relegated shortly after their losses to the ‘Stars.
While the Northstars have no direct experience with their other division mates, scouting reports suggest the ‘Stars could be in for stiff competition. Accompanying the Wolverines from Sundays to Tuesdays are the Dragons, who played in the division below PNS’s partner team, the Flying Hellfish. Remaining in the Clancy division from Winter ’08-’09 are the Bandits, who finished in the division basement in the winter with a 3-15-4 record, but ended their season playing at a .500 clip over their last three games. Finally, the Ice Cats return to the True North League after a season off. Over the Summer ’08 season they finished 2nd in the Day division, 2 points behind the Bandits and 1 point ahead of the ‘Stars’ winter rivals, B&W. Vegas prognosticators have picked the Wolverines as the current favourites with 2-1 odds to win the division followed by Bone’s Brigade at 5-2, the Bandits and Ice Cats at 4-1, your Peter Northstars at 5-1 and the Dragons at 11-2.
The ‘Stars have trimmed their line-up heading into the Summer season. After carrying 43 players on the winter roster and dressing 27 skaters for the final game, the ‘Stars are now at a svelte 15 players for the upcoming campaign. Returnees from last season include the defensive core of Hoy, Jeffrey, McKenzie, Morris and Medcof, and forwards “Classy” Mark Davidson, “Sketchy” Steve Klein, Adrienne “Booty Dance” Foster, TJ “G Pearl Rabbit” Liebgott, Kara “K-Hawk” Hawkins, Mike “want to earn 10 dollars Joella?” Swartz, and Nick “Konks” Konkin. Free agent signings for the season include the return of stalwart D-man, Richard Salmon, savvy newcomer Mark Lee, and a mystery man known only as “Soccer Seb”. As always, the team is anchored in net by the all-star goaltending of Craig “Suck it Trebek” Sills. With the roster set and the team enthused, the Peter Northstars are ready to defend their TNHL title.
Almost There!
3-1 Win Propels ‘Stars Towards Satisfying Climax
With a berth in the finals on the line, seemingly every ‘Star who had ever worn the uniform suited up for the semi-final showdown against B&W. With a mind-boggling 15 skaters on the bench, Northstar skaters had less room than a reed salesman on the Euphrates during flood season. However, the deep bench allowed the ‘Stars to go all out every shift; crucial in a single elimination game against tough opponents.
The ‘Stars jumped out to an early lead after Duncan pounded in a loose puck with an assist from Jeffrey. They doubled their advantage later in the period as Medcof finished a two-on-one with Bluenstein by sliding the puck through the legs of B&W tender Steve Sahnazar and the second period started with the ‘Stars holding onto a 2-0 lead.
Unlike previous games against B&W, the Northstars made a point of having an extra skater back to defend against the rushes of B&W leading scorers Knetchel, Stapinski and Kaju. The ‘Stars hoped that the extra defender would force the B&W speedsters outside and limit their ability to attack the net. Even though the strategy worked well, Kaju still managed to break through the ‘Stars defensive wall and slip a puck past Northstar goaltender Sills, breaking the shutout and pulling B&W back to within one goal before the end of the second period.
Despite penalty trouble, the ‘Stars were able to take a stranglehold on the game in the third period. Having already killed off an early penalty to Nicky “The Animal” Cifelli, the ‘Stars found themselves shorthanded again after an interference call against Jeffrey. However, during a B&W line change in the midst of the penalty, Kara Hawkins chipped the puck to Medcof who took off down the right wing on a shorthanded two-on-one with Bluenstein. As Medcof fired a centering pass across the face of the goal, a hard backchecking Alex Kaju managed to break up
the pass, but ended up accidentally deflecting the puck into his own net. The defensive miscue put the ‘Stars up 3-1 with only 6:08 left to play. The ‘Stars looked to have the game sewn up as Kaju took a high sticking penalty with 1:06 remaining, but 11 seconds later defenseman Sean Hoy was penalized two minutes for playing hockey, once again putting the teams at even strength. With their goaltender pulled, B&W tried to mount a final assault on the ‘Stars’ net, but Sills turned away the final salvo and the puck was cleared with insufficient time for B&W to draw even.
The win put the ‘Stars through to the championship game in their inaugural season as division members. They will face the Wanderers who advanced by defeating the top seeded La Castile Lions 4-1 in their semi-final match. The Northstars held the advantage during the regular season, putting together a 2-1-1 record in head to head matchups. With a balanced attack and physical style, the Wanderers are the last obstacle between the Northstars and the coveted Day Division trophy.
Huskies’ Loss Gives Northstars Semis
‘Stars advance as second seed
High-fives and celebratory butt-grabs abounded last Tuesday as the Peter Northstars were informed that they would be advancing to the semi-finals courtesy of a 4-2 Huskies loss to the La Castile Lions. The second consecutive loss suffered by the Huskies led to their ouster from the playoffs and allowed the ‘Stars to advance as the second seeded team from pool A.
The ‘Stars face a tough challenge next week, as they will have to depose the B pool’s first seed, B&W. Over the course of five regular season games, the Northstars were outscored 14-7 versus B&W, ending up with a 1-4 record against the speedy offence and timely defence of the division’s second place team. Knowing that in the single elimination semi-final format one win is all it takes to advance, a pumped up Northstar team is ready to face down their latest challenge on the road to the Day division championship.

Regular Season Recap
'Stars Set Sights On Division Championship After Exciting Season After a season full of ups and downs, the rebuild of the Peter Northstars, begun in the Summer of 2008, appears to be complete. At the start of the season, the 'Stars welcomed a quartet of new faces in Liebgott, Ali, Hoy and Turvey, but more changes were soon to come. Suffering through a 1-6-3 start, the departure of Mandy Flynn in a
mid-season deal with Calgary, injuries to Jeffrey and Ali, the depantsing of Sean Hoy, and a roster that was often wildly different week to week, the 'Stars were unable to find their groove until the midway point of the season. However, not only did the team begin to grow comfortable with each other's playing style, the addition of Kara Hawkins and the return of "Fancy" Rob Duncan and Jeremy Bluenstein helped to add the stability and scoring punch that was lacking earlier in the season. The 'Stars went on a tear, putting together a five game unbeaten streak late in the season to pull themselves out of the Day division basement. While the 'Stars finished the season in 5th place with 20 points, they finished in a four team cluster; just above the Wanderers (19 pts), tied with the Czars (20 pts, fewer penalty minutes) and just below the Huskies (21 pts). Now, with the playoffs looming, the revamped team seems to be hitting its stride at the perfect time. Game Report - 2/17/09

Game Report
Peter North Stars at Wanderers-January 27, 2009
Threesome puts on a show, provides relief to frustrated group Northstar players celebrated their first win in the past three games with a solid 3-2 win over the languishing Wanderers. The Stars got on the board early, on a brilliant give and go between "Fancy" Rob Duncan and Steve "Rumblin Stumblin" Klein. Klein passed the puck to Duncan, who gained the offensive zone, with Klein heading straight for the Wanderers' net looking for a pass or possible rebound opportunity from a Duncan slap shot. Duncan carried the puck in to the hashmarks to the right of the goal, with Klein calling for the puck. Duncan floated a waist high pass to Klein who redirected the puck into the top right corner of the Wanderer's net. Asked about the play after the game, "Fancy Rob" said jokingly: "Heck, if I knew it was Klein in front, I would have just shot it, instead of passing. Seriously, Klein made a heck of play redirecting that out of the air, a really nice goal for sure. " Even the Wanderers were impressed with the 1st marker, saying, "That was a really nice goal". Klein said of the play: "Honestly, I don't even remember seeing the puck. I just tried to make contact. I guess, sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're good, sometimes both. I'm just happy it went in." The Stars then surrendered 2 goals to the Wanderers and looked to repeat a pattern of playing catchup around the mid point of a game. Fortunately, the Stars did not surrender to the offensive prowess of the Wanderers. During a Wanderers power play late in the second period, Medcof put a slap shot past the Wanderers' netminder from the left hashmarks to even the score at two. Then, late in the third period, longtime Star Tom Medcof and newest Star Kara Hawkins, ended the stalemate with a brilliant play. Medcof and Hawkins charged the offensive zone with Medcof stealing the puck from one Wanderer defenceman and then beating a second. Medcof then made a pretty saucer pass past the remaining Wanderer to a charging Hawkins who was alone in the slot. What followed was sheer brilliance. Hawkins then skillfully took the pass on the fly and "undressed" the Wanderers goal keeper and slipping the puck through the five hole to end the game and secure the victory for the Stars. The Stars' bench erupted in cheers as the team was relieved to finally win their first game in the past three contests. The Wanderers' goaltender was clearly embarrased by Hawkins offensive display, which was described by some of the Stars' players as "Matrix-like". Hawkins commented on the play and said this: "Tom made a great play to get me the puck. I wish he could play forward more often, but I know we need him on defence." Hopefully, the comment won't add to Medcoff's already inflated ego, which is rumoured to be causing a certain amount of friction amongst the players in the Stars lockerroom. None of the Stars would comment on the rumour. Hopefully, this win is the start of a winning streak for the Stars, who have remained near the bottom of the division for most of the season.
Breaking News-02/11/09-6:10 pm
STARS TO GET REPLACEMENT UNIFORMS BY NEXT GAME
Peter Northstars management issued the following press release today at 6 pm: "We have just received notice from our equipment supplier that replacement uniforms for new and existing players who requested it will be available for the last regular season game. We wish to thank our new management team and in particular, Steven Klein, for his tireless efforts to make the newest players feel welcome and give the team its professional look once again." Steven Klein was reached after issuance of the press release and made this comment: "Hey, I just felt it important that the new players feel like a part of the team and having a proper uniform is the only way to properly achieve this. Also, when I suddenly take control of the team, I will have won many of the hearts and minds of the team, to solidify my control without protest. Wait, we're off the record right? Are you still there? Hello?" Hopefully, the uniforms will be flawless, allowing PNS management to overlook this rather embarrasing faux pas on the part of Mr. Klein.

NORTHSTAR DEFENCEMAN PLEASED WITH "SOLO" EFFORT
One of the newest North Stars, Sean Hoy, in a brilliant solo effort, scored two goals, both unassisted, preventing the Peter Northstars from suffering a second consecutive loss. The 6-2, 210 pound defenceman said, “I generally don’t like to go it alone. I like to include others in the game, but, sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do”. The Northstars were frustrated as they simply could not get the job done, despite having 3 power plays, leading to the ejection of the Lions’ Victor Santos. The Stars look forward to their next game against the Cerebral Czars and hope to improve their play.

Medcof Hands Website Reins to Klein Northstar officials announced that defenceman Tom Medcof had stepped down from his position as game reporter and that winger Steven Klein had been appointed Peter Northstars' Chief Liason to the Interwebs. Medcof, who has overseen website operations since April '08, has had difficulty updating the website recently due to shoulder and back problems stemming from carrying the team for the past two seasons. Asked to comment on the transition, Medcof said "I have full confidence that Steven Klein's appointment will ensure not only the continued quality and hilarity of peternorthstars.com, but also that I won't have to keep updating this mofo. Speaking of which, where are the updates? WTF?" When asked to comment on his new appointment and the corresponding lack of updates, the new webmaster de"Klein"ed. Game Report - 13/1/09 ‘Stars Upset By Male Threesome Watching B&W Trio Puts Stars Off Game
Riding a five game unbeaten streak, the Peter Northstars (5-7-4) were prepared for a tough game against B&W (10-5-1) and had a plan to shut down the opposition; keep an eye on B&W’s leading scorers, Andrew Stapinski, John Knechtel and league leader Alex Kaju. Unfortunately, the plan wasn’t sufficiently specific as the ‘Stars watched the trio rack up 2 goals and three assists in a 3-2 loss.
Things started well for the ‘Stars when Kara Hawkins stymied the B&W attack at their own blue line. Hawkins fed the puck to Rob Duncan, whose slap-pass was tipped into the top corner of the net by defender Tom Medcof to give the Northstars an early lead. B&W got the goal back almost immediately as Alex Kaju blew past a cluster of ‘Stars and finished his breakaway with a backhander into the net. The ‘Stars were up again in the second as Adrienne Foster one-timed a John Myers pass from the top of the face-off circles by an unsuspecting Steve Sahnazar, but another of B&W’s speedsters, Andrew Stapinski finished off a breakaway attempt two minutes later to tie the score again heading into the third period.
A hectic final frame saw B&W take the lead on a late goal-mouth scramble, and the ‘Stars unable to even the score despite a two-man advantage over 29 of the final 47 seconds with goaltender Craig Sills on the bench. With the loss, the ‘Stars dropped back into 5th place in the Day division, trailing the 4th place Huskies by one point. They will have a chance to make up that ground this week against the La Castile Lions, who played the ‘Stars to a 2-2 tie in their last game.
Game Report - 5/1/09 ‘Stars Pound Huskies from Back End
Defenders Score Five in 6-3 Victory
A wave of reinforcements and a burst of scoring from the defensive core helped push the Peter Northstars (5-6-4) past the Huskies (6-6-3) Tuesday night.
With a plethora of replacements taking the ice due to a short bench for the early 6:10 start, even the most loyal Peter Northstars fan needed a program to identify the players. The biggest surprise for a long-time fan must have been between the pipes, where call-up Mike Newman stood in for all-star goaltender Craig Sills. Although he was still in attendance, Sills looked on from the press box as he missed his first start in two seasons. Supersubs Glendenning, Ham and Hull stepped in for the ‘Stars as well, filling out the roster.
The Huskies struck early, as the replacement players adjusted to the blistering pace and intense skill level of the Day division. Coming out strong, Mike Krakocki found the net a mere 26 seconds into the game to give the Huskies a quick lead. They maintained the lead until just before the end of the period, when defenseman Tom Medcof picked up the puck deep in the ‘Stars zone, skated through the entire Huskies team, deked goaltender Andrew Stormer, and paused just long enough to high five two of his teammates before tucking the puck into the net. Medcof’s highlight reel goal tied the score 1-1 going into the second.
Midway through the second, the ‘Stars offence clicked into gear. Kara Hawkins netted her third goal in four games, followed quickly by a tally by defender Sean Hoy. Husky Matt Patton cut the ‘Stars lead to one goal with a solo effort but, mere seconds later, substitute defenseman Warren Hull fired a laser over Stormer’s shoulder to restore a two goal cushion. With less than a half minute left in the period, defender-cum-forward Jeff Morris scored his second of the year to send the Northstars into the third period with a comfortable 5-2 lead. The teams traded goals in the final period, with Russ Bowerman scoring for the Huskies and Medcof banging in a Rob Duncan point shot to close out the scoring.
The win extended the Northstars’ winning streak to five games; a streak that was difficult to imagine five games ago. With the streak, the red-hot ‘Stars have moved from the division basement to challenge for third place, one point behind the Huskies, and have an opportunity to close ground on second place B&W (8-5-1) this week. The Northstars kicked off their unbeaten streak in their last game against B&W, winning 3-1; their first victory against them in three games. To match that result, the ‘Stars will have to shut down the dangerous B&W trio of Stapinski, Knechtel and the league’s leading scorer, Alex Kaju. Facing the scoring power of B&W, the ‘Stars hope to parlay their own newfound scoring prowess into a sixth game without a loss.

‘Stars Break Through Defensive Shell, Extend Unbeaten Streak to Four
Facing an early deficit, the Peter Northstars (4-6-4) rallied to defeat the Wanderers (5-5-4) 5-3.
Going into the game the Northstars found themselves in the unfamiliar position of having a deeper bench than their opponents, with two full lines, compared to only six skaters for the Wanderers. Knowing from frequent personal experience how exhausting a short bench can be, the ‘Stars were ready to wear their opponents down and grind out a victory. Unfortunately, the Wanderers had a different plan: Score early and dig in on defence.
Despite their numeric advantage on the bench the ‘Stars started off in a deep hole. The Wanderers leapt into the lead on with an early pair of goals which came in rapid succession. Less than three minutes in, both Steve Bleiwas and Ron Jacobs found the back of the ‘Stars net to give them an early 2-0 lead. The Wanderers then settled into a defensive shell, flipping the puck down the ice as often as possible in an attempt to kill off the remaining 2 2/3 periods.
Their strategy seemed to pay dividends as they were able to maintain their two goal advantage throughout the remainder of the first period and well into the second, but the suddenly potent Northstar attack managed to break through the Wanderer defence late in the frame. With 5:45 remaining in the period, Rob Duncan stepped over the blue line and put a blast past Shawn Stillman’s glove, opening the floodgates. Less than a minute later Chris MacKenzie tallied and, with the man advantage and a delayed penalty being called on the Wanderers, Duncan scored again with just over two minutes left in the period to put the ‘Stars up 3-2.
The Wanderers made a push to get back into the game in the third, with Clement Wai scoring 1:30 into the final period, but T.J. Leibgott hammered home a Jeff Morris shot shortly thereafter and Kara Hawkins roofed a shot past Stillman just as the Wanderers’ third penalty of the game expired to put the game out of reach for the exhausted Wanderers.
The win extended the Northstars’ unbeaten streak to 4 games. During that four game streak, the ‘Stars have scored more goals (15) than in their first 10 games (14)! The ‘Stars hope that their newfound scoring proficiency is maintained next week against the Huskies (6-5-3).

Explosion erupts from Duncan’s pair
Repatriated ‘Star Triggers Offensive Outburst in 5-1 Win
The Peter Northstars (3-6-4) parlayed a much needed offensive boost into to a victory over the Cerebral Czars (4-6-3) Tuesday night.
Northstar hopes were high going into the game, as the team with the best goals against average, yet the lowest goals for total, welcomed back summer standout “Fancy” Rob Duncan. Duncan recently rejoined the team, claiming he was misinformed about the type of “RIM jobs” available in Waterloo and would be well served spending more time in the Northstars’ locker room. The ‘Stars were also bolstered by the appearance of Jeremy “Blue” Bluenstein, whose participation this season may be limited by his part-time position as a Miami Dolphins cheerleader.
The additions paid dividends immediately, as Duncan opened up the scoring 2:26 into the game with an unassisted goal. Chris McKenzie followed up with a tap in from Duncan and Mike Swartz, and Steve Klein chipped a Kara Hawkins set-up past Czars goalie Ted Barrett to put the ‘Stars up 3-0 going into the second period.
Ian Cooper pulled the Czars to within two goals early in the second, but that was as close as they would come. Thirty-six seconds into the third, Hawkins picked up her second assist after Nick Cifelli banged home a Tom Medcof point shot that Barrett couldn’t control and, 1:24 later, Duncan potted his second of the game from T.J. Liebgott and Steve Klein to close out the scoring.
The five goal outburst was a team high for the season and the win brought the ‘Stars tantalizingly close to pulling themselves out of the Day Division basement. The ‘Stars now trail the 5th place Czars by a single point and have a chance to pass them next week in a prime-time matchup against the 3rd place Wanderers.

‘Stars Slip on Number Two
Tie Sees ‘Stars Fall Short of First Two Game Winning Streak Since ‘07
In a hard fought game, the Peter Northstars (2-6-4) were unable to hold onto a late lead against the La Castile Lions (8-2-2) and finished with a 2-2 draw.
The ‘Stars entered the game riding a season high one-game winning streak and were hoping to match a feat equalled most recently in the ’07 winter season by taking two in a row. Although the ‘Stars were given the only powerplay opportunity of the first period, they were unable to take advantage of it, and it was the Lions who were able to open an early lead shortly thereafter. Lions Forward Greg Koutsoris skated into the zone and ripped a slapshot past ‘Stars netminder Craig Sills with 1:01 left in the first period. However, the ‘Stars defence responded in the second, with Jeff Morris tallying late in the period, and Sean Hoy putting the Northstars ahead 2-1 a mere 35 seconds later.
After the Lions tied the game in the third, room on the already undersized Rink 1 was at even more of a premium as both teams stepped up their physical play. The bumping culminated in a Lions penalty with 1:31 remaining in the game, giving the ‘Stars a shot at extending their modest win streak. In an unusual move, the Lions tried to press for the win, putting out their strongest skaters and trying to launch a final assault on the ‘Stars. The Northstar defense blunted their attack and ‘Stars forwards caught the Lions overextending themselves on two separate rushes, resulting in a pair of 3 on 1 opportunities. However, the ‘Stars were unable to finish and the game ended with the teams even. Despite the tie, the 'Stars still have a two game unbeaten streak that they'll try to preserve in this week's matchup against the Cerebral Czars. While the 'Stars have yet to win against the Czars (0-1-1), the rumored return of "Fancy" Rob Duncan and the recent addition of Kara Hawkins could give the 'Stars their first win against this tough opponent.

Going Streaking?
Could 3-1 Win Be Start of Something Bigger?
The Peter Northstars (2-6-3) hoped that their strong victory over 2nd place B&W (7-3-1) signalled the start of a winning streak.
The game started off in less than spectacular fashion for the ‘Stars when they were assigned a minor penalty before the game started for having pucks on the ice before the zamboni doors were closed. However, the ‘Stars managed to kill off the early disadvantage without allowing a shot on goal and went on to play a dominant period. However, despite a great deal of pressure in the B&W zone, they were unable to beat goaltender Steve Sahnazar and the first period came to a scoreless end.
John Myers opened the scoring at 8:41 of the second with assists from Kevin Ali and Steve Klein, and the ‘Stars continued to pound away at the B&W net. The ‘Stars looked to extend their lead after Ian Kanne was called for a two minute minor, but instead B&W tied the game, scoring a shorthanded goal with time running out in the second period. B&W defender Mike Hoffmann gained possession of the puck in their zone and flipped it to neutral ice. Speedster Alex Kaju pounced on it and raced in alone, beating Craig Sills high on the glove side to knot the score at 1-1 heading into the third.
The Northstars were not to be denied this game however and they continued to control the puck and the flow of play throughout the third. New signing Kara Hawkins put the ‘Stars into the lead in the waning moments of the game. With Andrew Stapinski in the box for a tripping penalty, Indrek Kanne was sent off for closing his hand on the puck during the ensuing faceoff, giving the ‘Stars a 5 on 3 advantage. Although the ‘Stars’ Chris McKenzie was sent off shortly thereafter for interference, the Northstars were still able to exploit the situation. During the rare 4 on 3, Hawkins banged in a rebound after a shot by Ali putting the ‘Stars in control of the game with 2:29 to play. Defenceman Tom Medcof sealed the victory in the last minute when he picked off an errant pass and hit an empty B&W net from just over the ‘Stars blue line.

Hoy Rips Ass, ‘Stars Choke
‘Stars Defenseman Misses 2-0 Loss Due To Wardrobe Malfunction
While the Peter Northstars (1-6-3) couldn’t find the back of the net against the Huskies (2-5-3) Tuesday night, Sean Hoy couldn’t find the back of something even more important; his pants. Just prior to the game, Northstar officials were informed that the reliable defenseman would not be able to attend after a run in with a car door left his suit pants as ass-less as teammate Mark Davidson’s clubbing outfit. Missing both Hoy and leading scorer Chris MacKenzie, the ‘Stars were in tough against the fierce Huskies.
The game took on a familiar tone early on, with the ‘Stars having trouble moving the puck through mid-ice. Difficulty maintaining possession through the neutral zone led to waves of attacks on the Northstar net. A busy Craig Sills kept the Huskies off the board through the first period and sent the game into the second in a scoreless draw.
After a turnover from in front of the net led to a Huskies goal, the ‘Stars began to kick their offensive game into gear. A chip pass from Steve Klein sent a pinching Tom Medcof in on a partial breakaway late in the second, but he was unable to get entirely clear of a Huskies defender and goaltender Andrew Stormer was able to cover the puck before Medcof could get a good shot away. Stormer blunted several other Northstar chances in the second and the ‘Stars began the third staring down a 1-0 deficit.
The Huskies iced the game midway through the third. With the Northstars shorthanded after taking a too-many-men penalty, the Huskies power-play unit was able to bang home a loose puck during a goalmouth scramble to extend their lead to two goals. The ‘Stars continued to press offensively, trying to cut into the Huskies’ lead, but Stormer came up big on several occasions, at one point pulling a puck off the goal line to preserve his shutout.
Next week brings a rematch against B&W who are 2-0 against the ‘Stars so far this season and defeated the ‘Stars 5-0 in their last meeting.

In and Out Like Flynn Flynn to Calgary for Future Considerations
Following the game Tuesday night, ‘Stars management announced that forward Mandy Flynn was being moved to Calgary. While the move had been long anticipated and came as no surprise, it was nonetheless a sad moment for the team. During her seasons with the Northstars Flynn had become a mainstay, both in the dressing room and the Rinx bar. Always one of the first to be "in" for roll call and rarely missing a game, even when she suffered from a distended abdomen for the majority of the Summer 2008 season, she has consistently been a team exemplar and will be missed by players and fans alike. She leaves the team as the seventh highest scorer in team history with 11 goals and 49 assists. Game Report - 11/20/08 Premature Initiation Early Start, Slow Finish in ‘Stars 2-1 Loss
The Peter Northstars (1-5-3) jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hang on late in the game as the Wanderers (4-2-3) pulled ahead in the waning minutes. For the second time this season, an early start left several ‘Stars in the dressing room. The puck dropped at 8:50 for the 9:00 game, and the ‘Stars began with less than two lines. After the previous, lacklustre meeting between the two teams which resulted in a 1-1 tie, neither team was sure what to expect. In contrast to their last meeting, both teams came out flying and the game was characterized by brisk skating and quick puck movement. The players who made the opening face-off performed admirably. The ‘Stars put quick pressure on the Wanderers, forcing an early powerplay when Shawn Stillman was called for hooking less than two minutes into the game. The attack continued with Chris Mackenzie giving the ‘Stars an early lead with assists from Kevin Ali and Mandy Flynn. The ‘Stars kept the margin intact until the 7:55 mark of the second period when Stuart Rudner opened the scoring for the Wanderers. With 7:19 remaining in the game, the Northstars had an opportunity to pull ahead as Jon Ptak was sent off for tripping. However, the powerplay was disjointed and eventually backfired as Stillman scored his second of the night, flipping a shorthanded goal into the top of the net from the front of the crease. Finding themselves once again on the wrong end of a close score late in the game the ‘Stars pulled goaltender Craig Sills with time running
out. While they were able to apply pressure, Wanderers goaltender Mark Miller was able to stop Kevin Ali from in close on the ‘Stars best scoring opportunity and the Wanderers were able to hold on for the 2-1 victory. Next week brings a rematch against the Huskies (1-5-3). In their last meeting the ‘Stars managed to pull out a 3-1 victory, their first and only one of the season. The Huskies are led by Matt Payton who tops the team in goals with six. The team also features loose cannon Mark Eberhardt who flipped out at the end of the last encounter with the ‘Stars and also received a 5 minute major and game misconduct in the Huskies’ last game against the La Castile Lions. Short-Staff Is (Barely) Enough Heary Returns As ‘Stars Hang On For Scoreless Draw
Showing a tremendous amount of heart, the undermanned Peter Northstars (1-4-3) persevered to maintain a scoreless draw against the Cerebral Czars (2-3-3). The game marked the second in a back-to-back series with the Czars winning the opener 6-3.
Heading into the game, the ‘Stars were bolstered by the return of Matt Heary to the Northstar fold. Heary, a standout defenseman from the team’s history, made a brief return during the summer season and returned to the line-up for the Winter season to help fill the breach created by the absence of Rob Jeffrey. His addition was quite welcome considering the traditionally limited turnout for late night games. As it was, the ‘Stars were only able to ice eight skaters for the contest.
The ‘Stars began aggressively, with a pair of early opportunities foiled by Czars goaltender Ted Barrett. On the first shift of the game, Chris McKenzie circled the net and centered the puck to an uncovered Tom Medcof. Medcof one-timed the puck towards the far side of the net, but Barrett managed to get a piece of the shot and Czar defenders cleared the rebound. Moments later Medcof returned the favour, foiling a Czar’s breakout attempt and finding McKenzie alone in front. He fired a bullet towards the top corner of the net but Barrett once again managed to get a piece of the puck, deflecting it off his shoulder over the net.
As the game wore on, the ‘Stars offensive forays became more and more limited. Instead, they became preoccupied with containing speedy Ian Cooper and smooth skating Tim Lang of the Czars, who began the evening 1-2 in league scoring. The ‘Stars defence managed to limit their chances for the majority of the night confident that goalie Craig Sills would shut down the remainder of the Czar’s squad. That theory was tested frequently in the third period when the exhausted Northstars allowed numerous odd-man rushes which Sills and the defence managed to contain. The game culminated with a goal-mouth scramble, with several ‘Stars sweeping the puck out of the crease in the final seconds of the game.
With goals co-leader Kevin Ali out of the line-up with a lower body injury and a limited number of skaters the ‘Stars had trouble conjuring scoring opportunities. The offensively-challenged ‘Stars currently sit second to last in the Day division in goals scored, ahead of only the Fury, who were recently relegated from the Clancy division. The ‘Stars hope to kick their offence in gear next week against the Wanderers.

Sloppy Fifths 'Stars in 5th place after disjointed 1-1 tie, week off
It was only fitting that in a game neither team deserved to win, no one did. In last Tuesday night’s contest against the Wanderers (1-2-2), the Peter Northstars (1-2-1) managed to salvage a 1-1 tie in the dying moments of the game.
Scheduled for a late night start, it seemed as though it was well past the bedtimes of both teams. Throughout the match both teams looked sloppy, frequently making mental mistakes and mishandling the puck. In fact, the only players who were solid in the early going were goaltenders Sills and Miller, although Wanderers goalie Miller faced few chances in the opening stages of the game. Sills, however, was forced to stay sharp, warding off several early opportunities to keep the game scoreless. It remained that way until the 9:54 mark of the 2nd period when the Wanderers opened the scoring amidst controversy.
It was only appropriate that an ugly goal would open the scoring on this night. With the Wanderers in control of the puck in the Northstars’ zone, Mark Harendorf fired a wristshot along the ice that made its way towards the net. However, what would normally have been an elementary save for Sills slipped by when a Wanderer player at the edge of the crease lifted his stick at the last moment. Despite appeals to the referee the goal was not disallowed and the Wanderers took a 1-0 lead into the third.
TJ Liebgott salvaged the game for the ‘Stars during one of the better co-ordinated moments of the game. In the waning moments of a late 5 on 3 powerplay opportunity, John Myers cleanly won an offensive zone faceoff to Chris McKenzie. McKenzie drew a Wanderer to him and dumped the puck off to Rob Jeffrey at the opposite point, who was able to walk in for a clean shot on goal. Miller only managed to get a piece of the Jeffrey wrister, which trickled into the crease where it was swept home by Liebgott.
The ‘Stars took an ill-deserved week off this week, with an inexplicable bye scheduled against the Cerebral Czars (1-3-0). Due to this scheduling the Northstars will not face the Czars until late November. Additionally, an (apparently ugly) draw between the Wanderers and Huskies during the off week left the ‘Stars alone in 5th place in the Day division, albeit 1 point out of 3rd with a game in hand. The next game takes place this Tuesday against Mojo Mardi (4-1-0) who defeated the ‘Stars 3-1 in a close contest earlier in the season and the ‘Stars hope to turn in a more energetic and organized performance than their last game.

Doggie-Style ‘Stars topple Huskies 3-1 in even match
Riding a 14 game winless streak, the Peter Northstars (1-2-0) were more than due for a victory. That win finally came in a closely contested battle against the Huskies (1-1-1) on Tuesday night. The two teams were evenly matched and played a similar, tight-checking style early on. Both the Huskies and the ‘Stars were content to limit the other’s chances and rely on their goaltenders, Andy Stormer of the Huskies and Craig Sills of the ‘Stars, to blunt any solid scoring opportunities. This was evident by the 0-0 score at the end of the second period. Even during 2 powerplay opportunities for the ‘Stars and one for the Huskies in the first two periods, Sills and Stormer came up big for their respective teams with Sills flashing a pad to turn away a sure goal on a Huskies opportunity late in the second and Stormer robbing Adrienne Foster on a centering pass just prior to that. The Northstars finally opened the scoring in the third period. Prior to the game, Chris Mackenzie was moved to centre and that roster adjustment began to pay dividends as he bagged his first goal of the season. As Stormer attempted to smother the puck during a scramble in front of the net, Mackenzie pulled the puck out of the feet of the pack and roofed a wrist shot over the downed Husky goaltender. However, the Huskies stormed back less than a minute later as Matt Patton one-timed a Gary Clayton set-up past Sills to even the score. The furious pace of the third continued and defenseman Sean "Chipsa" Hoy’s end-to-end rush put the ‘Stars up 2-1 with 4:11 left to play. Not ones to make things easy, the ‘Stars gave the Huskies an opportunity to get back into the game with an interference penalty and a pulled goaltender giving the Huskies a 6-on-4 advantage for the final minute and fifty seconds. However, the ‘Stars were able to clear the puck early in the powerplay and the Huskies were unable to set up their attack. With 45 seconds left, defenseman Tom Medcof sealed the victory with an empty net goal. There were a few fireworks near the end of the period as the Huskies’ Mark Eberhardt briefly flipped out and took
roughing and slashing penalties with 12 seconds remaining, but even that couldn’t take the shine off what was otherwise a great game by both teams. Having matched their longest winning streak last season, the ‘Stars look to continue their success this week against the Wanderers (1-2-0).

Losing Their Mojo? ‘Stars drop close game 3-1
Surprises were the order of the day as the Peter Northstars (0-2-0) faced off against Mojo Mardi (2-0-0). Perhaps the most unexpected was the 9:48 puck drop for the game scheduled to begin at 10:00pm. Although not problematic for most teams, the Northstars whose skaters generally show up 5 minutes before the game, scrambled to ice their squad.
While most of the ‘Stars were able to hurry out for the early start, the configuration of players also looked decidedly unfamiliar once they took the ice. With McKenzie and Medcof being the only regular defenders available for the game, Steve Klein and Mark Davidson were pressed into service on defence. The changes were startlingly effective over the first two periods with the ‘Stars keeping Mojo Mardi off the board early on. Despite two unlikely penalties by Steve “Mr. Clean” Klein, the ‘Stars found themselves leading 1-0 after two periods on the strength of a fantastic solo effort by Kevin Ali.
As has been the case all too often however, the ‘Stars began to give ground in the third period. An early goal by Mojo Mardi tied the score and they forged ahead after capitalizing on a 3 on 1 rush late in the period. Although the ‘Stars were able to put some pressure on Mojo late in the game, their fate was ultimately sealed by an empty net goal with seconds left in the game.
While the ‘Stars performed fairly well on the ice, the team was more disconcerted about their performance in the bar afterwards. Missing several Northstar regulars in the Rinx pub, Sills, Flynn and Medcof had to put in an unprecedented amount of effort to keep the teams’ “Average Pitchers Ordered” statistic among the league leaders. We can only hope that the ‘Stars continued dominance in the bar translates into dominance on the ice in the near future.

Klein Does It With Two Chicks; Performance Ultimately Unsatisfying Assists from Flynn, Foster Give Long-serving ‘Star 100th Point in 3-2 Defeat
An unprecedented number of supporters were in the audience and Steve Klein’s offensive prowess was on full display Tuesday night. However, a night of solid debuts and notable accomplishments was marred by a late goal which resulted in the Peter Northstars (0-1-0) dropping a 3-2 decision to B&W (1-0-0).
As the evening kicked off, fans were giddily anticipating the debuts of TJ “G Pearl Rabbit” Liebgott, Kevin “Krypton Stix” Ali and Sean “Chipsa” Hoy, all of whom made solid contributions in their first appearances as ‘Stars. Both Ali and Liebgott were quality additions up front, with Ali’s quick skating and deft stickhandling and Liebgott’s high pressure forechecking keeping the B&W defence on their toes all evening. Hoy added speed and firepower to the Northstar’s back line, helping to keep chances down and opening up the ice with breakout passes and end to end rushes.
However, all did not go according to plan early in the evening. In the first period, B&W standout Andrew Stapinski split the ‘Stars defensive pairing of Medcof and Morris and was able to walk in alone on goaltender Craig Sills. Stapinski made a nice move on Sills and roofed a backhander to open the scoring. B&W doubled their lead on a Stapinski slapshot which eluded Sills and the Northstars were down 2-0 entering the third period.
The ‘Stars began to rally in the final stanza, beginning with an early goal. Defenceman Tom Medcof pinched in from the point and stole the puck from a B&W winger, poking it ahead to Steve Klein. Klein worked a give-and-go with Medcof, who fired a wrist shot from the top of the circle over B&W netminder Steve Sahnazar to cut the deficit
in half. Soon thereafter, Klein managed to bat a puck out of the air from in front of the net to even the score. By assisting on the first goal of the night and scoring the second, Klein became only the 4th player in franchise history to hit the century mark in points scored, joining fellow Northstars Paul Younger, Kevin Kearn and Tom Medcof.
Unfortunately for the ‘Stars, the rally was soon cut short. With only three minutes left, the Northstars failed to clear a puck from the slot and suffered the consequences as it found its way to the back of the net during a goalmouth scramble. Despite the loss, the dressing room attitude was upbeat and the team looked forward to meeting other opponents in the new division. With a new, balanced schedule and exciting new additions, this season could be the one that has the ‘Stars donning the coveted TNHL championship jackets.

Happy Days Ahead? Northstars Change Divisions, Add Skaters
Encouraging signs for the Fall/Winter season abounded as the ‘Stars were placed in a new division and signed several new players.
After a difficult summer season, the ‘Stars were pleased to find themselves moved to the Day division, named for Toronto Maple Leafs great, Clarence “Happy” Day. As newcomers to the Day division, the Northstars have yet to face any of the teams on their schedule. To kick off the Fall/Winter season this Tuesday, the ‘Stars will meet B&W. Although B&W and the Peter Northstars have yet to face each other, B&W played and defeated PNS’s farm team, the North Stars, 4-1 during the summer season. B&W are led by the scoring of Alex Kaju, who topped B&W with 13 goals, and the netminding of Steve Sahnazar who led the Day division with a GAA of 1.667 over the summer. Other scheduled opponents include the Cerebral Czars and Huskies who joined B&W in the Day division last season, Mojo Mardi who have been relegated from the Clancy division, and the mysterious Wanderers who hail from parts unknown and have yet to play a True North Hockey League game.
The rebuilding process begun during the 2007-2008 season continues to be the order of the day with nearly a third of the Peter Northstars' players being new to the team. The ‘Stars lost several players from the summer season who will be difficult to replace. Second-leading scorer “Fancy Rob” Duncan has stepped down from the team citing travel as a main concern. Duncan will be spending a great deal time in Waterloo having heard that it was an excellent location to get RIM jobs and will be unavailable for most games. Other players unsigned for the upcoming season include the Klinck brothers, Brad and Jeff, Michael Caruso, Jeremy Bluenstein, and Richard Salmon who leaves the team to pursue his career as an anecdote writer for the Globe and Mail.
The return of familiar faces and an injection of new blood promises to spark the ‘Stars attack this season. Fan favourite Evan “The Bus” Lipton returns to the Northstar fold after a leave of absence and Mandy Flynn will step out from behind the bench and become a player/coach for the upcoming season. Other additions include TJ “Chocolate Silk” Liebgott, Kevin “Roto-Rooter” Ali, and two mystery players known only as “Sean” and “Matt”.
Adding stability to the team, a veteran nucleus returns once again anchored by all-star goaltender Craig Sills. The defensive core of Jeffrey, McKenzie, Medcof and Morris return intact, accompanied by two-way center Nick “The Animal” Cifelli, Mark “Grey Cup” Davidson, figuratively high-flying winger Steve Klein, literally high-flying center John Myers, Mike “Half-Nanny” Swartz, and Adrienne “Flip Cup” Foster. With the roster set, the ‘Stars look to be ready to begin another run at a TNHL title.

Summer Season Wrap Up
It was a long, hard summer for the Peter Northstars (2-13-0). After starting the season with a rousing 4-1 victory, it quickly became apparent to everyone except tier administrator Jim
Mattice that the ‘Stars were in far over their heads in the league’s second highest division. After 2 division realignments, the ‘Stars ended the season with a staggering 10 game losing streak during which they were outscored 58-10. Although highlights were few and far between, the season was still memorable on and off the ice. Long-time Northstar Steve Klein’s 50th goal and Tom Medcof’s 100th point were notable milestones, Craig Sills added another shutout to his all-time team lead, and the Peter Northstars’ “Future Stars” program continued to pay dividends with a new Flynn and Younger penciled in for the 2026 roster.
Heading into the new season, there are sure to be big changes in store, with the first one hopefully being level appropriate hockey for the crew in green, yellow and white.
